Overview
This project involved the design, fabrication, and testing of a remote-controlled rover capable of completing a designated obstacle course with consistent handling and mechanical reliability. I contributed to the CAD modeling of the chassis and steering system, followed by fabrication using laser-cut wooden components and full system assembly. During testing, the rover exhibited excessive chassis flex and steering instability under load, negatively impacting control and maneuverability. I led the mechanical redesign to resolve these issues by reinforcing the chassis structure and redesigning the steering arms to improve stiffness, alignment, and Ackermann steering geometry. After iterating on the design and validating the changes through testing, the rover demonstrated stable steering behavior and successfully completed the obstacle course.
