Overview
This project focused on the mechanical design and fabrication of a single leg module for a robotic walking system. My team designed the leg assembly in CAD, incorporating multiple pivoting linkages to enable controlled rotational motion and load transfer through the structure. We manufactured the components using a combination of 3D printing and laser cutting, selecting each process based on part geometry, strength requirements, and assembly tolerances. After fabrication, we assembled and tested the leg to verify alignment, joint motion, and structural stability. Our completed leg module was then mechanically integrated with another team’s subsystem to form a full multi-leg rover, requiring precise interface alignment and collaborative system-level integration.
