Overview
For the development and testing of a Variable Emittance Device (VED) designed to improve thermal control for a CubeSat payload, my primary focus was conducting and refining thermal vacuum chamber (TVAC) testing. My team began by improving the TVAC system itself, by first implementing a new Turbo Pump into the system. We then simulated orbital vacuum environments to evaluate the VED’s performance and stability, testing our devices at a pressure of 1.100 Torr, and focusing on its ability to survive in varying pressure changes. After each test cycle, I analyzed the resulting thermal data to verify predictive models, assess heat transfer performance, and identify any deviations from expected thermal behavior.
